Proteus is a low profile mobile robot that drives under a wheeled GoCart of packages, lifts it and hauls it between sortation and outbound dock areas. Earlier Amazon floor robots worked inside fenced fields, while Proteus uses onboard perception and a projected light field to move safely in open aisles alongside employees. It navigates without floor tape or barcode grids and is coordinated as part of a larger fleet inside Amazon fulfillment and sortation buildings.
