Digit descends from the springy bird legs of Cassie, developed at Oregon State University and commercialised by Agility Robotics. It became the first humanoid to work a paid customer shift, moving totes for GXO Logistics in 2024, and Amazon has trialled it in research facilities. Agility's RoboFab plant in Oregon was announced as the first factory purpose-built for humanoids.
