A Skypod is a four wheel drive robot that travels on the floor at up to 4 m per second, then grips rails on a rack upright and climbs vertically to reach a bin. Each robot carries one bin of up to 30 kg and delivers it to a picking station, so throughput scales by adding robots rather than rebuilding the rack. Onboard navigation and Exotec fleet software coordinate the movement, and the robots can drive under racking to change aisles. Systems are installed for grocers, sporting goods retailers, apparel brands and manufacturers.
