Origin is a waist high wheeled robot that holds totes or cartons and meets human pickers at each shelf location, displaying the item and quantity on its screen. It navigates with lidar and cameras against a stored map, needing no tape or floor markers, and moves in mixed traffic with staff and forklifts. Locus Robotics was founded in 2014 by the operators of a fulfillment company that lost access to Kiva robots after the Amazon acquisition. Fleets are used by third party logistics providers, retailers and pharmacies.
