ANYmal B came out of the StarlETH work at ETH Zurich and used twelve ANYdrive series elastic actuators, giving accurate torque control at every joint. The sealed body carries its own computers, a rotating lidar and depth cameras, and runs onboard state estimation and terrain mapping. It was the platform on which reinforcement learning controllers for legged robots were first shown to transfer from simulation to real hardware.
