CHIMP
Anthropomorphic disaster response robot from Carnegie Mellon that rolls on limb mounted tracks and rises on its rear limbs to use tools.

CHIMP stands nearly 1.5 m tall and weighs about 201 kg, with four limbs that each carry tank style tracks, so the machine is statically stable at all times and never has to balance dynamically. Operators supervised it from a remote console while onboard software handled perception from a laser scanner and cameras, motion planning and force control. The Tartan Rescue team took third place at both the 2013 DARPA Robotics Challenge Trials and the 2015 Finals, where the robot fell and then stood itself back up to carry on.
