ROVVER X is a modular six wheel drive crawler that is lowered through a manhole and driven along a sewer or culvert while a pan, tilt and zoom camera records the pipe wall. Wheels, axles and camera modules swap out to match pipe diameter, and a powered reel feeds cable while keeping tension under control. The operator works from a controller and screen in a survey van, coding defects as the run proceeds. Municipal and contractor crews use it for condition assessment of buried pipe.
Of note
- Inspects pipe from small municipal laterals up to large diameter trunk mains.
- A satellite camera variant inspects lateral connections from inside the mainline.
- Widely used by North American municipal sewer departments and inspection contractors.
