Robotino carries three Mecanum wheels set at 120 degrees, each with its own motor and encoder, so it can strafe, rotate and follow curves freely. Standard sensing includes a bumper, infrared distance sensors, a colour camera and wheel encoders, with an optional laser scanner, gyroscope and indoor positioning system. An onboard industrial computer runs user programs written in a graphical environment or in text languages, and it is used for teaching factory logistics and robot control. It appears widely in vocational training and student competitions.
