Poo-Chi walked with a linked leg mechanism driven by a small geared motor, so it waddled forward rather than balancing on each leg in turn. Light, sound and touch sensors let it respond to claps, petting and a plastic bone, and an eight bit controller stepped its behaviour through simple growth stages. Tiger Electronics sold it in North America and Europe from 2000 and the line reportedly passed ten million units, making it one of the best selling robot toys ever made.
