Rashid was the first lunar rover designed and built in the Arab world, assembled at the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre in Dubai. It carried two high resolution cameras, a microscopic camera, a thermal imager and a Langmuir probe to study regolith properties, dust adhesion and the plasma environment, with test patches of different materials on its wheels. Communication with the Hakuto-R Mission 1 lander was lost seconds before touchdown on 25 April 2023 and the spacecraft crashed near Atlas crater.
