OP3 stands about 51 centimetres, weighs 3.5 kilograms and has 20 degrees of freedom driven by ROBOTIS Dynamixel XM430 smart servos that report position, load and temperature over a serial bus. A single-board computer in the torso runs Linux and ROS, and the head carries a camera for ball and goal detection. Its mechanics and software are published as an open platform so laboratories can modify it freely, and it is the successor to the earlier DARwIn-OP. ROBOTIS sells it through its own store and distributors, and teams use it in RoboCup humanoid kid-size soccer and in university robotics courses.
