The KMR iiwa mounts a torque sensing LBR iiwa arm on a mobile platform with Mecanum wheels, so it can slide sideways and rotate in place in tight aisles. Safety laser scanners support map based navigation, and the platform docks at a station where the arm loads machines, tools or sample racks. Because every arm axis senses torque, it can mate parts and open drawers by feel rather than by exact position. It is used in electronics assembly, machine tending and laboratory automation.
