NAO is 574 millimetres tall, weighs 5.48 kilograms and has 25 degrees of freedom, with a battery giving roughly 90 minutes of active use. Its sixth revision added a faster processor, better cameras and improved microphones while keeping the same body plan of geared brushed DC servos. Programming is through the NAOqi framework, the Choregraphe editor, Python and ROS bridges, which is why it became the fixed platform of the RoboCup Standard Platform League. Aldebaran sold about 20,000 units into education and research before the company filed for bankruptcy in February 2025 and entered receivership that June.
