The R2 was a narrow low speed electric vehicle built only to carry goods, with two temperature controlled compartments and no space for a person. It drove public roads driverless with a lidar, radar, camera and thermal sensor suite, remotely monitored rather than remotely driven. Nuro ran it with grocery, pharmacy and restaurant partners in Houston, Phoenix and the San Francisco Bay Area. Nuro stopped its own delivery operations after shifting in 2024 to licensing its autonomy software.
