TEO has 24 degrees of freedom, with six degree of freedom arms ending in three finger grippers and six degree of freedom legs, and runs distributed control across three onboard computers linked by the YARP middleware. Its sensing includes a monocular camera, an RGB-D sensor and six axis force torque sensors at the wrists and ankles for compliant contact with objects and doors. The RoboticsLab at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid built it in 2012 as successor to its RH-1 humanoid, published the software openly and has also tested it with a fuel cell power system.
