Tiangong is 163 cm tall and weighs 43 kg, using electric joint drives rather than hydraulics, with several visual perception sensors and inertial sensing feeding a learned locomotion controller. The Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center unveiled it on 27 April 2024 and opened parts of the platform for other developers to build on. A later Tiangong Ultra version completed the course of the Beijing humanoid robot half marathon in April 2025.
