TurtleBot3 comes in two shapes, the tall narrow Burger and the wider Waffle Pi, both driven by two servo actuators with wheel encoders. A 360 degree laser distance sensor, an inertial unit and a single board computer run standard mapping and navigation packages out of the box. Because the hardware, wiring and software are all open and cheap, it became the reference platform for teaching robot software and for reproducing published experiments. The figures below are for the Burger model.
