TyBot is a wheeled gantry that spans a bridge deck and rolls along rails or the deck edges above a laid out mat of reinforcing bar. Machine vision finds each bar intersection on the fly, so it needs no digital model of the deck, and a tying head then wraps and twists a tie at each crossing. One operator sets it up and supervises while the robot works the mat, removing a physically punishing manual task. It is used on highway bridge deck construction.
