Full-size compliant humanoid built for European disaster response research and later tested in earthquake damaged buildings in Amatrice, Italy.

WALK-MAN is about 1.85 m tall and weighed 133 kg in the version entered for the 2015 DARPA Robotics Challenge Finals, cut later to 102 kg with a magnesium and titanium frame and new upper body actuators. Series elastic joints and 19 degree of freedom hands let it absorb impacts while turning valves, cutting through walls and clearing debris, with an operator commanding roughly four fifths of its actions and local autonomy handling the rest. IIT tested it in a mock industrial plant with gas and fire, and in buildings struck by the Amatrice earthquake.
