WABIAN-2R stands 1.53 m tall, weighs 64.5 kg including batteries and has 41 degrees of freedom, with seven per leg, two at the waist, two in the trunk, seven per arm and three per hand. Each joint uses a direct current motor with a harmonic drive gear and a belt transmission, and six axis force and torque sensors in the ankles measure ground reaction forces. The robot has been used to reproduce human style walking with stretched knees, heel contact and toe off, and to support gait rehabilitation and human motion analysis studies.
