| Autonomy | Onboard hybrid locomotion control with fall recovery |
Max carries a wheel at the end of each leg, so it can walk and jump over obstacles like a legged robot and then glide on flat ground at up to twenty five kilometres per hour. Tencent Robotics X built it as a research platform for hybrid locomotion control, showing backflips, standing up on two wheels and recovery after falls with control decisions computed in well under a millisecond. It was announced in March 2021 as the laboratory's first self developed quadruped, aimed at patrol, security and rescue research.
Of note
- Combines legged and wheeled locomotion in one machine, switching modes on the move
- Announced in March 2021 as Tencent Robotics X's first self developed quadruped
